Course Description:
The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in the aviation, motor carrier, railroad, and mass transit industries. Alcohol breath testing is required as of July 1, 1995, for covered employees.
This course follows the training curriculum as prescribed by the Department of Transportation (DOT), the procedural requirements of alcohol testing as stated in the (49CFR part 40 [Federal register Vol. 59, NO. 31, 2/15/1994, pkg. 7340-7366]) and amendments to the rules. EBT manufacturer protocol for operation, maintenance, storage, and external calibration checks.
Following completion of this course the attendee will be certified to properly administering a breath alcohol test the trainer will encourage hands on training and allow the student to interpret the results. The student will review and complete a sample form for record maintenance; complete a self-check test sufficient to perform an external check on the instrument of your choice.

- Subject problemsand procedures
- How to conduct screening and confirmation tests
- Review equipment problems and learn how to troubleshoot
- How to become proficient inoperation of the BAT unit and performing external calibration checks, records and log keeping.
- Hands-on demonstration and practice, simulating difficult techniques for difficult patients including troubleshooting, coaching reproducible results, correct patient techniques and procedures.

Course Materials:
Participants are encouraged to provide their own Evidential Breath Testing equipment to maximize device proficiency. Each technician will receive a professional student technician manual. All other course materials will be provided.
Practical and written exams will be given during the course, and if satisfactory performance is achieved, each participant will be awarded a certification certificate, re-certification and/or train-the-trainer certificate, depending on the course registered.
